It seeks to build bridges between media and the Syrian women\u2019s movement by enhancing and empowering both men and women working in the field of media, by empowering women journalists to take over leading positions in their institutions, and by activating the role of the media in raising social awareness concerning gender equality and women\u2019s issues. The SFJN also works on improving the representation of women in the media to achieve a Syrian society that is fair to all of its men and women citizens, and to realize a positive social change in thinking and behavior with respect to matters surrounding gender justice and equality.\u00a0 for more info: <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfjn.org\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">www.sfjn.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>About the Deputy Director position<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Under SFJN\u2019s Executive Director\u2019s supervision, the Deputy Director is responsible for overall coordination of SFJN programs as well administration.<\/p>\n<p>This is a leadership position requiring an experienced senior level professional. It is full-time.<\/p>\n<p>The candidate needs to be based in the Netherlands. Female Candidates will be given a priority.<\/p>\n<p><b>Role Description<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Strategic Management and Leadership<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In collaboration with the Executive Director, the Deputy Director will be responsible for drawing the strategic directions of SFJN and implementing all administrative\/program strategies within the required time-frame and regulations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Support the management of the organization\u2019s strategic plan, budget and fundraising strategy.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Supervise and mentor senior staff to ensure quality work and accountability.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ensure the operationalization and adherence to all SFJNs\u2019 policies and procedures.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Create a supportive environment that fosters personal responsibility and commitment to SFJN goals and values.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Identify best practices and improve internal systems with an eye towards future needs.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Operational Management<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Direct and manage the overall operations of\u00a0 SFJN in the Netherlands and remotely.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prepare program goals and objectives, help draw budgets, evaluate progress and effectiveness of all staff. Provide support to all its members to achieve all project deliverables within the required time-frame and prepare all work plans and grant deliverables as per requirement.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oversee the financial management and be responsible for ensuring quality and integrity of the systems and policies.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oversee management of contracts, procurement, and operations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oversee human resource management at\u00a0 SFJN.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Provide support and oversight to the team in all program planning, budgeting, documentation and monitoring.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ensure timely, accurate and quality financial and narrative reporting compliance with donors.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ensure efficient and functioning operation systems.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Foster interdepartmental linkages, communication and synergies within SFJN.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Implement and foster adherence to the established\u00a0 SFJN policies, regulations, guidelines and procedures and strengthen feminist governance.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Contribute effectively to the overall strategic visioning, conceptual development, planning and monitoring of\u00a0 SFJNs\u2019 work.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ensure adherence to policies and statutory compliance.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Internal and External Relations<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Facilitate internal processes for SFJN staff that build skills and commitment to organizational values and social justice.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Demonstrate effective, value-driven leadership to all SFJN staff.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Foster a conducive environment that is transparent, accountable and supportive.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Work collaboratively with the Directors on strategic decisions and leadership of SFJN .<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Manage donor relations in collaboration with the Directors.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Building and maintaining strong relationships with key journalists\/ media organizations on national and international levels.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Networking and building good relations with potential local and regional partners and donors.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Manage communication with donors, public and third parties in coordination with the Executive Director according to time frame.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Represent the foundation on an international level.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Reporting<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Deputy Director will lead all SFJNs\u2019 operations and oversee programming remotely. She will report to the directors of SFJN.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Finance Manager, program managers and coordinators will report directly to the Deputy Director.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Qualifications<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Master\u2019s degree desirable<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At least 10 years work experience with at least 5 years in executive leadership roles, experience in Syria is an advantage.
