It seeks to build bridges between media and the Syrian women\u2019s movement by enhancing and empowering both men and women working in the field of media, by empowering women journalists to take over leading positions in their institutions, and by activating the role of the media in raising social awareness concerning gender equality and women\u2019s issues. The SFJN also works on improving the representation of women in the media to achieve a Syrian society that is fair to all of its men and women citizens, and to realize a positive social change in thinking and behavior with respect to matters surrounding gender justice and equality.\u00a0 For more info: <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfjn.org\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">www.sfjn.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>About the Executive Director position<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan of the organization. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is a leadership position requiring an experienced senior level professional. It is full-time,\u00a0 to be based in the Netherlands. The women candidates will get the priority.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The new Executive Director will work under the supervision of the current Executive Director for three months.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Role Description<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Strategic Management and Leadership<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Executive Director will be responsible for drawing the strategic directions of SFJN and implementing all administrative\/program strategies within the required time frame and regulations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Manage the organization\u2019s strategic plan, budget and fundraising strategy.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Create a supportive environment that fosters personal responsibility and commitment to SFJN goals and values.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Identify best practices and improve internal systems with an eye towards future needs.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Operational Management<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Responsible for the overall operations of\u00a0 SFJN in the Netherlands and remotely.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prepare program goals and objectives, approve annual budgets, evaluate progress. and effectiveness of all staff. Provide support to all its members to achieve all project deliverables.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oversee the financial management and be responsible for ensuring quality and integrity of the systems and policies. Ensure adherence to policies and statutory compliance.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oversee management of contracts, procurement, and operations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oversee human resource management at\u00a0 SFJN.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Responsible for signing all agreements, reports and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of SFJN.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ensure efficient and functioning operation systems.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Foster interdepartmental linkages, communication and synergies within SFJN.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Implement and foster adherence to the established\u00a0 SFJN policies, regulations, guidelines and procedures and strengthen feminist governance.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Contribute effectively to the overall strategic visioning, conceptual development, planning and monitoring of\u00a0 SFJNs\u2019 work.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Internal and External Relations<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Demonstrate effective, value-driven leadership to all SFJN staff.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Foster a conducive environment that is transparent, accountable and supportive.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Manage donor relations in collaboration with the General Program Manager.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Building and maintaining strong relationships with key journalists\/ media organizations on national and international levels.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Networking and building good relations with potential local and regional partners and donors.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Represent the foundation on an international level.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Qualifications<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Master\u2019s degree in Media\/Gender\/Humanitarian Studies\/ Management desirable.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At least 10 years work experience with at least 5 years senior nonprofit management experience. Experience in Syria is a must. We will not proceed with your application if this criterion is not met.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Competencies<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Transparency and high integrity feminist leadership.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Enthusiasm and willingness to champion SFJNs\u2019 values.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Strong analytical and conceptual skills with the ability to see both the big picture as well as micro issues.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">High level strategic thinking and planning. Ability to envision and convey the organization\u2019s strategic future to the staff, board, volunteers and donors.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ability to effectively communicate the organization\u2019s mission to donors, volunteers and the overall community.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Active fundraising experience.
